2008 Australian DanceSport Championship

Melbourne, December 10 - 13

The Australian DanceSport Championship (better known as the Aussies), is Australia’s biggest event on the calendar, and it is here where the Australian representatives to the IDSF World Championships are selected.

The Emporio had a strong team of competing couples and supporters taking the annual pilgrimage to Melbourne.

This year saw a longer than usual event, with the IDSF World Latin Championships being held on the Sunday, together with the Masters I Standard.

 The Gang is heading home  

The Masters I Standard was, to the best of my knowledge, the first Senior I IDSF event held in Australia. The international terminology for Masters I category (over 35 year old) is Senior I.

With the IDSF World Latin Championship following the Aussies, we had a great number of international couples competing in a number of events. With so many local and international stars, this was truly a spectacular event.

It was great to see that the IDSF International Standard event in particular attracted a great number of international competitors and is shaping up as a major event on the international dance calendar.

Madeleine Zoanetti, President of the Australian Dancing Society, is presenting one of the international couples with their trophy. 

The annual "Night to Remember" fundraiser was again a great opportunity to catch up with with friends from all over the world and support a great cause - the Alfred Hospital.
