Arrivederci Glenys
January 2009
After a very successful dancing career, Glenys Raveane has
decided that the Australian Championship 2008 would be her last competition. Glenys has been a finalist in
all major Australian Masters I Latin events.
Glenys started her competitive career in 2002 with Chris
Gruber.
This partnership had an interesting aspect to it, in the sense
that there was a “slight” physical mismatch. Chris, at 186cm, just a little taller than
Glenys.
While small in stature, Glenys had a great personality and
presence on and off the floor.

Some of the milestones in the partnership were:

Level 2 Latin

2003 – 1st – National Capital Dancesport Championship Masters I Level 4 Latin

After a short break, Glenys re-commenced her dancing carreer with
Jim Sneddon and together they were one of Australia’s top Masters I Latin couples.
They exploded onto the scene at the 2007 International Megastars in QLD
and placed 3rd in the Open Latin. What a great start for a new partnership.
This partnership went from strength to
strength.
Next to winning the Australian Masters Games Latin event and
competing in Blackpool, England, Glenys and Jim received the 2008 DASA achievement
award.
