DASA DanceSport Competition - March 2010
The 7th March saw the start of the 2010 SA
DanceSport events with the DASA DanceSport competition.
This was a small competition, and one has to
wonder why not more couples take advantage of the opportunity. A great deal of work goes into organising any
event, and we encourage all couples to support any local competition.
It has been a little while since the Australian
Championships and the couples had a chance to test any new or changed choreography. The music tempo at times
was a little quicker than what we are used to, but all the couples coped
well.
We would like to congratulate all couples from
Team Emporio – it was great to see that the studio had a strong showing, despite a number of couples being
unable to compete. Team Emporio couples placed first in 14 out of 25 DanceSport events – great
show!
Great to see Clint Fiedler & Leanne Tassone
back on the floor, and a much improved Brenton Hillard & Karen Bollenhagen. Cale Amos & Monique
Pisanello always out there stealing the show, and with 5 first placings, the most successful couple of the
day. I hope that one day, when you become international superstars, you remember me for all the good stuff I
wrote about you!
Unfortunately, the lighting conditions at the comp were not ideal for
taking photos, especially with my camera (if in doubt, blame the equipment). Here is one of the better shots I
took.
Check
out Brett Cousins photos here for some much better
shots.
On the upside, it was good to see Jim Sneddon back on the scene, even if only in
a spectator capacity. Turns out Jim has done some major damage to his foot while on a cruise, either by
getting his foot caught in the ship propeller while wrestling a 6m white pointer, or while casually strolling
down the deck of the ship. Details are still sketchy. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he will be back
in the studio (and the dance floor) soon.
Don’t forget, there is the ADS competition on the
28 March and of course the big Easter Championships on 3 April. See you all
there.
For all the results of the March competition go to
the DASA website .
