Easter Championships - March 2009

This year’s Easter Championship saw some new faces on floor amongst our “regular” stars. The studio had a strong showing and some impressive results and we congratulate all on a great performance. Good to see the support crew out in force, throwing their weight behind the Emporio couples.

Some of the new couples competing for the first time were:

David Placentino & Maria Niarchos
Brenton Hillard & Karen Bollenhagen
Chris Davis & Gale Sprott

There was strong support from Victoria again this year, boosting competitor numbers and making for a great competition. Great to see the panel of adjudicators having a national flavour, including several interstate judges.

Winners of the day

Cale Amos & Monique Pisaniello had a ripper of a day, winning five events and placing 2nd in three.

They were the winners of the Juvenile Open over 3 Styles and the highest placed Juvenile A/C grade over 3 Styles! Check out the Silverware in the Photo Gallery.

They are a tough act to follow and we look forward to seeing them on the floor again soon. 

David & Leanne Amos (right) were the winners of the Masters I L5 NV and the Masters I Open NV.

Joel Amos & Bianca Lazar are also regulars on the winner podium, this time taking out 1st Place in three events.

Brenton Hillard & Karen Bollenhagen also had a great day out with two 1st and two 2nd placings.

This was Karen’s first competition other than Coach & Pupil, and what a start to her new career!

Brenton and Karen are, like most of the couples, preparing for the NCDC Canberra competition and we wish them every success.

David Placentino & Maria Niarchos are a new Adult Latin couple on a mission. This was Maria’s first competition and they had to make their mark in a big field, with 11 couples in the first round.

They had the look, they had the moves and they got their first win on the board. Congratulations on winning the Adult L2 Latin.

Oryst & Janet Tkacz (left) were the winners of the Masters I L5 Standard. Congratulations to Oryst & Janet on their fantastic win - great show!

Chris Davies & Gale Sprott were also on their first outing and managed to outdance three other couples to record their first win in the Masters I Level I NV - Tangoette

Graham Riley and Fay Reid showing their skill in taking out the Masters I & II 8 Dance and the Masters II Level 5 Standard.

Leanne Tassone was on the floor for the first time in the Coach & Pupil event with her coach Chris Gruber.

Great support from Victoria was very welcome in this event, and nice to see Leanne taking out first place.

Leanne is currently looking for a dance partner, so if you have what it takes, put your best foot forward (so to speak).

Anna Kopiekin & Nadia Romanova danced in a number of social and coach & pupil events and had a great day out with several first and second placings. Congratulations on a very successful competition.

And, once again, to top off a great day, Team Emporio won the Teams Match!

This was a super effort by all the Emporio couples, and we are delighted with the results. Keep up the good work and thank you for doing the studio proud.
