State Titles 2010 - 29 August
2010
The 2010 SA State Titles were held at the familiar Wonderland venue, and provided a
great opportunity for all couples to show their skill and talent.
As we get closer to December and the Australian DanceSport
Championship, our competitive couples welcome local events to help them improve their
dancing.
The SA State Title Championship has a lot of prestige,
making this a hotly contended event. There are also a growing number of social competitors taking to the
dance floor, and their support for our local events is very welcome.
Despite some of our couples being unable to compete, the Emporio
was well represented with 12 DanceSport couples, as well as entries in Social and Coach & Pupil
events.
Congratulations to everyone who entered. The final podium tally for Team Emporio
was:
16 1st - 13
2nd - 11
3rd
Our Masters couples also had a good day out, and some excellent
dancing from our competitors.
Brenton Hillard & Giselle West placing second in the Masters
I Open New Vogue and Oryst & Janet Tkazc palcing third. Oryst & Jannet also placed third in the
Masters I Open Standard.
In the Masters II class, Graham Riley & Fay Reid placed third
in the Open New Vogue.
This State Title saw a return of Philip Alvaro & Heather Forbes in their
first event since the Australian Championship in 2009. Philip & Heather competed in the Adult Level 4 and
Opend Standard events. Great to see you back on the floor!
Neal McLauchlan & Kris White strapped on the winning shoes
for the day, taking out the Masters I level 1, 2 & 3 Latin American events –
WOW!
Chris Davies & Gale Sprott placed third in the Masters I
Level 2 & 3 Latin, and also took out the Master I Level 4 New
Vogue.
This was also the first competition for Joel Amos & Emma Dorn who walked away
with 3 wins and 4 second places as well as some impressive Silverware for best over three
styles.
This is a very new partnership and dancing all 3 styles,
they had to put in a lot of work. We look forward to seeing more great dancing from Joel &
Emma.
Following in his brother's footsteps, young Cale Amos and his
partner Monique Pisaniello are also regular "Trophy Table Raiders", and this State Title was no exception.
Cale & Monique also walking away with some great Silverware.
Michael Winnick was out on his last event before his big trip to Europe. He
will be sadly missed by us and of course his two partners – yes, two!
While most of us have our hands full managing one
partnership, Michael competed in Latin and Standard with Rachel Lloyd and with Anna Kopeiken in New Vogue.
Impressive!
Don’t forget that DanceSport SA is holding
the SA Open DanceSport Championships on Sunday, 14 November, at Wonderland Ballroom. For more
