State Titles 2009 - August 2009

The State Titles is always a hotly contended event, and this year was no exception. The Emporio had a total of 13 Dancesport couples and a number of social competitors / couples competing, and we would like to congratulate all of you for doing the Emporio proud.

So many highlights – where to start. Team Emporio launched a serious assault on the trophy treasure chest and came home with enough loot to fill a trailer.

Next to our more seasoned competitors, we had a number of new couples making their first appearance.

Team Emporio took out a total of 21 Dancesport events and a number of social events - awesome!

Winners of the day

Joel Amos & Bianca Lazar took out first place in the medal tally, winning 8 events as well as beeing rewarded for "Most Graceful Couple".

The also won the Youth perpetual trophies in all 3 styles, the perpetual trophy for overall highest placed Youth couple and the perpetual trophy for the Level 3 Standard event. 

Hot on their heels were Cale Amos & Monique Pisaniello with 6 first placings. They managed to defend their Titles in several events, and their excellent timing and showmanship make them an absolute delight to watch - you guys rock! Cale & Monique also won the Juvenile perpetual trophies for all 3 styles.

 
What a day out for Joel & Bianca! A lot of hard work has gone into this partnership, and on the day, everything came together.

The Adult Level 2 Latin was a particularly hotly contended event, with a semi and a final round. The six couples that made it to the final round gave it their all, but in the end Joel & Bianca claimed first place.

Worth mentioning here that Michael Winnick and Naomi Bailey, despite a very short preparation period managed 4th place in the same event - super effort!

David & Leanne Amos successfully defended their State Title in the Masters I Open New Vogue, their name becoming a regular feature on the perpetual Shield trophy.

Brenton Hillard & Karen Bollenhagen are shaping up to be a force in the field, placing first in the Masters I  Level 1 Latin and Level 2 Standard.

Chris Davies & Gale Sprott also on the winners podium, winning the Masters I Level 1 Standard.

Oryst & Janet Tkacz continued their strong form, taking out first placings in the Masters II Standard and New Vogue and placing second in the same events for the Masters I division.

Fantastic effort by all couples and our support crew. Next event on the local calander is the Summer Festival and then it is time for the Australian Championships in Melbourne.
